What is the purpose of this website?

The primary purpose of this site is to provide a series of links to archaeological photo spheres.

It is also hoped that the site might encourage people to take their own photospheres of archaeological sites.

What is a photo sphere?

A photosphere is a 360º photograph that allows the viewer to see the entire picture from the centre. (see this example here…)

Thanks to Google, it is now possible to easily upload photo spheres to Google maps, where they can be viewed by all.

Google have also created an app, available for both Android and Apple, that allows you to use an ordinary smart phone to take good quality photo spheres. You can find further information about this on the Google website here...
